3rd Grade

This section provides a more detailed overview of the Grade 3 curriculum.

Math Content presents unit summaries; a description of the math content in each strand, including mathematical emphases and benchmarks; and a grade level scope and sequence.

The Sample Session section provides a session from the third Grade 3 unit, Collections and Travel Stories: Addition, Subtraction, and the Number System 2, and related materials such as Student Activity Book pages, a Family Letter, Teacher Notes, Dialogue Boxes, etc.

Pacing Information offers a list of units, the number of sessions in each and total sessions for the year, and daily time expectations for mathematics instruction.

Comparing the 1st and 2nd Edition Units presents information about which first edition activities are (and are not included) in the second edition and which have been moved to another grade level.

Teaching a New Unit offers Where to Start guides designed to provide an overview of the activities that address the important math content for each of the Grade 3 units. They can be used to orient individuals or groups to the units they are preparing to teach.
