This 7-week online course focuses on the teacher’s role in supporting the range of learners in K-5 mathematics classrooms.

In This Course, Participants…

  • explore ways to create a classroom community that supports math learning, encourages productive struggle, and frames mistakes as important learning opportunities
  • consider ways to ensure that students are regularly sharing, comparing, and making connections to others’ ideas
  • focus on enacting the CCSS Mathematical Practices to ensure that students become mathematically proficient
  • engage in mathematics
  • analyze classroom videos, readings, and interactive demonstrations
  • analyze questions and instructional moves that are productive and extend, deepen, and invite math reasoning
  • examine ways to make students’ thinking and learning visible, and to use assessment to guide instruction and learning

Who Should Attend
K-5 teachers, coaches, and other support staff benefit from thinking about how to best support mathematics learning for all students.

Clock Hours
Receive a certificate indicating 40 clock hours upon completion of the course.

Graduate Credit
Apply for 3 graduate credits through Framingham State University, for an additional fee of $225 paid to FSU. Information and applications are available the first week of the course.
