Discussions provide students the opportunity to articulate, represent, connect, and consolidate mathematical ideas.<\/p>\n<p>The curriculum supports teachers in facilitating discussions by recommending strategies to look for, specifying key mathematical ideas to focus on, and offering examples of student ideas and dialogue.<\/p>\n<p>See examples of the above in the discussion in <a href=\"https:\/\/investigations.terc.edu\/inv2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/sample_g2_u6_s1-1-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grade 2, Unit 6, Session 1.1 (pdf)<\/a>.
